Last Liar Standing

Vonny Kwan wakes up in a Nevada hospital, the victim of a hit-and-run accident she doesn’t remember. As she struggles to recover from her injuries, she learns that she also has no memory of the past nine years, including her marriage and what she was even doing in the West. While she’s still reeling from the shock of her amnesia, two detectives visit and inform her that her husband, John, was recently murdered.

As more information comes to light, Vonny grows increasingly suspicious of everyone around her. Vonny realises she must piece together the last decade to uncover the truth. The missing chunk of time holds secrets about the person she became, the mysterious man she fell for, and the life she never wanted.

I think I'm one of the few that thought this book was only ok. I did not find it propulsive and thrilling at all, nor was it written at "breakneck speed". I found the premise interesting and was even quite intrigued in the first few chapters and wanted to know what was going on. After the MC Vonny loses her memories however, I just found everything after that boring.

Lots and lots of chapters are of Vonny moping around home doing nothing except be scared and not even willing to look at photos on walls or even explore her home? I get it, she's lost her memories, I don't need to be reminded of that on every page.

Anyway, don't want this review to be too negative. I enjoyed the beginning as I said, the writing was well done even though I usually don't like first person narratives. Gave it two stars because it really was ok, it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either, so I do recommend you read it for yourself and base your own opinions.

I think this book just wasn't for me as I'd come off after reading a brilliant mystery/thriller before this one and was probably tainted by my expectations of my next read.
