Book One: She Who Became the Sun
Pretty interesting book, well written. Did think that there was a lot of over references to greatness that became a bit irritating and reptitive but overall, quite enjoyed it.

I do like historical books and seeing as this is a rewrite of Chinese history with Fantasy elements, I thought the premise was interesting enough to give it a go.

I think if this was a trilogy however I may not continue to book two but as it's only a duology it shouldn't be a long read so figured I could invest my time on it.

Book Two: He Who Drowned the World
Ultimately this series is about three main characters and their different desires. One for revenge, one for acceptance and one for change but all taken to the extreme.

I empathised with all of them and could feel their pain and suffering throughout the two novels which is testament to the authors writing skills as these three MC's were not good people. Whatever their desires, all three strove for it regardless of anything or anyone else. Lots of killing to get what they wanted and at times I could feel myself wanting to shout some sense into them, wanting them to realise that what they wanted maybe wasn't what they needed after all to heal.

Story was gripping and I love the reimagining of the Ming Dynasty's founding emperors rise to power. It was unique and very LGBTQ+ friendly. There were moments that I thought weren't needed or parts that dragged on a bit much, but overall this series was done well and I enjoyed this duology.

Its one of those books that always gives me a pleasant surprise that I'm enjoying it so much everytime I go back to continue it.
